Branford

John J. “Jack” Cudgma of Branford died Nov. 10. He was the beloved husband of Carol Bunnell “Bunny” Cudgma for nearly 60 years. Jack was born in New Haven Sept. 13, 1937, son of the late John and Agnes Sinkievich Cudgma.

He proudly served in the US Navy as a torpedo man 2nd class. Jack worked for SNET for 30 years, retiring in 1993 as a plant engineer. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford. Jack was an avid camper, baseball coach, and a former member of the Ancient Mariners Fife and Drum Corps. He was always there to offer advice on a subject when asked, but would never force his opinions upon anyone. He especially loved his family and spending time with them at home, or at his second home, his camper.

Besides his wife, Jack is survived by his sons John, Steven, and Kevin (Renee) Cudgma, all of Branford, and Keith (Melissa) Cudgma of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; his grandchildren Rebecca, John (Kristina), Matthew (Revanna), Adam (Nicole), Andrew, Jacob, Lauren, Sarah, Garrett, and Samuel Cudgma; and his great-grandchildren Zachary, Dylan, Nathan, and Gabrielle Cudgma. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Yasevac and Ann Devlin, both of Branford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tony Esposito and John (Tibby) and Linda Bunnell; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony “Buddy” Cudgma.
