Old Saybrook

It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew (Andy) McMath McKean, 58, announces his passing on Dec. 27 in Old Saybrook, succumbing to cancer. Andy was born to the late Jean McMath McKean and Robert Jackson McKean, Jr., on Feb. 25, 1960, and grew up in Rye, New York.

Andy was witty and generous. His sports were skiing and golf. After graduating from Rye High School in 1978, Andy received a BS in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston in 1983.

Andrew worked in various capacities at hotels in the Boston, Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island, area and then Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he met his beloved wife Maria Arrazola (McKean). Sadly, Maria predeceased him on Dec. 30, 1995. Andy also managed hotels in Washington D.C., New York, and Connecticut. In recent years Andy could be found enjoying parks or beaches with his rescue dog Katya.

He is survived by his twin sister Lauren McKean (Larry French) of Wellfleet, Massachusetts; his brother Douglas McRoberts McKean (Pam Adams McKean) of Lawrence, Kansas, and Doug’s daughter, Stephanie Ann McKean of New York, New York; and his sister Katherine McKean (Michael Rochefort), and daughters Julie Cecile Rochefort and Emily Jean Rochefort of Holyoke, Massachusetts. He was also dearly loved by his mother-in-law Lidia Arrazola and sisters-in-law Dania Stewart and Elena Arrazola of Florida.

Andy’s memorial service will be held at the Rye Presbyterian Church in Rye, New York, where he will be interred in the columbarium. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the ASPCA.
