Old Saybrook

Bernard Joseph Chiasson, aka Joseph Bernard Chaisson, 84, of Old Saybrook, passed away on Dec. 9 at home with his wife by his side. He was born on Sept. 19, 1934, in Rumford, Maine, the son of Michael and Mary Chiasson, the youngest of 14 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Giroux Chiasson; granddaughter Tayler; great-granddaughter Novah Skye; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three sons, Michael, Douglas, and Joseph, and all of his siblings.

Bernard was a Red Sox and Patriots fan, and was a well-known house painter on the Shoreline. He was also a well-known steel guitarist with the Country Kings. He will be missed by his many friends who will remember him for being kind to everyone!

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Dec. 12 in St. John Church, 161 Main St., Old Saybrook. Burial with military honors followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook. There were no calling hours.
