Madison

Helen G. Nichols (Lee), age 63, wife of David C. Nichols since 1982, from Madison, passed away on Nov. 24 at Branford Hospice after a long battle with cancer. Helen was born Jan. 31, 1955, in New Haven to late parents William and Helen Grant, previously residing in New Haven before residing in Madison.

She graduated and attended Daniel Hand High School. Mrs. Nichols was employed by S.A.R.A.H of Guilford and the State of Connecticut D.M.R., retiring in 1992. She was a wife and mother who cherished her time with her children. A light-hearted woman, she had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor, was talented in arts and crafts, and was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed gardening and cooking in her free time.

In addition to her husband David, she is survived and dearly missed by her sons Jason Nichols of Madison, and Matthew Nichols of Portland, Maine; and her brother and sister William Grant of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Kathy Thompson of Middletown.

Her family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Connecticut Hospice staff for their wonderful care, and to family, friends, and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and support during her illness.

Visitation will be held Dec. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice of Branford.
