Valley Stream, New York, Westbrook

Pasquale (Pat) Laudano, loving husband of Anita Laudano for 60 years, passed away on Nov. 8 with family at his bedside. Pasquale was born in Brooklyn, New York, in May 1927, later moved to Valley Stream, New York, and most recently resided in Westbrook.

A WWII-era veteran, Pasquale served with the US Army, 5th Infantry Division (Red Diamond Division, nicknamed The Red Devils), 10th Infantry Brigade, as a communications and radioman until being honorably discharged in 1947. A hard and dedicated worker, Pasquale built his career on Wall Street, spending more than 40 years with Goodbody and Company, which later merged with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith. His qualities of hard work and loyalty were instilled in his four children who carry on this passion in their chosen professions.

Behind his all-business exterior, was a man of integrity who was unconditionally devoted to his family and friends. He loved to do home improvement projects, tell jokes, swim, play bocce, dance, and enjoy many different kinds of ethnic cuisine. One of his greatest passions, however, was fishing with his children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends in his Boston Whaler, Lil’ Joe. His penchant for malapropisms, which earned him the nickname Yogi (Berra), could make even the most serious person breakdown in tears with laughter.

He is predeceased by his wife Anita and survived by his four children, Ralph, wife Phyllis, and children James and Faith of Islip, New York; Raymond, wife Glenda, and children Mackenzie and Cassidy of Libertyville, Illinois; Patricia and children Danielle, Philip and wife Amber, and great-grandchildren Vincent and Mia of Connecticut; and Joseph and wife Kathleen of Verona, New Jersey.
