North Haven

Mary A. Palermo Piccirillo, 92, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Oct. 6 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Piccirillo. Mary was born in New Haven on May 13, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Dominic and Anna Tenezio Palermo.

She was a cafeteria worker for the New Haven School system for many years. Mary loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking and going to the casino.

She was the mother of Robert (Rita) Piccirillo and Annamaria Masella and her fiancé Don Russo; beloved grandmother of Jennifer and Anthony Piccirillo, Melissa Conner, and Karen Chartier; loving great-grandmother of Joseph Masella, Noella Canizares, Ryan Chartier, Gabrial Conner, and the late Makayla Aseltine; and sister of Nicholas Palermo, Lorraine D’Addio, Lucielle Virgulto, Madeline Palermo, and the late Raymond Palermo.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to Torina Halloway, Mary’s nurse’s aide who took loving care of her for the past six years and will be a part of our family forever and also the Season’s Hospice and Palliative Care of Connecticut and The Keep Me Home Agencies.

Her funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home on Oct. 10 for a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Francis Cabrini Church. Entombment followed in the All Saints Mausoleum.
