Harold C. Schmidt, 92, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sept. 24 at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s campus. He was the beloved husband of almost 50 years to the late Ina-Mae Engels Schmidt, who passed away 20 days ago. Harold was born in Brooklyn, New York on Jan. 15, 1926 and was the son of the late Harold P. Schmidt and Emma Rahn Schmidt Stewart.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Harold was an accountant having worked for Borden and Guida Dairy’s. He was an avid bowler and was very active with many rabbit associations throughout New England.

He was the father of Patrick (Charlotte) Schmidt, Louis (Joan) Schmidt, Patricia (Bruce) Sakowicz and Gladys Sakowicz. He is also survived by six grandchildren and also great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted in North Haven Funeral Home on Oct. 1 with the Rev. Scott Morrow officiating. Interment with full military honors was on Oct. 2 in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. For his online obituary, visit www.northhavenfuneral.com.
