Sandra ‘Sandy’ Doerrer

Sandra “Sandy” Doerrer, 69, of Clinton passed away peacefully with family by her side on Oct. 5. Sandy was born on March 8, 1949, in Middletown, the daughter of the late Frank and Inez Fanfrlik.

Sandy is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years George; son Erik Tyrol and his wife Jennifer of Old Saybrook and their three children Andrew, Jordan, and Melia; daughter Megan Tremble and her husband Andy of Melrose, Massachusetts, and their two daughters Charlotte and Juliet; sister Diana Fanfrlik of Clinton; and cousins Donna Jones and Kathleen Johns. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ronald Fanfrlik.

Sandy graduated from Westbrook High School in 1967 before attending Bryant College. She spent years working at Xerox and the offices of Stop & Shop before devoting herself to raising her children and grandchildren in a comfortable home surrounded by love.

Sandy was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, sister, and friend who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a caring and thoughtful person who greeted everyone with a big smile and a warm hug, and she also loved to listen and offer advice. Her happiest moments were when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren, who adored her dearly. She was an avid cook, known for her famous cakes and hearty comforting meals. Sandy was also passionate about pets, especially all of her dogs, past and present; her ‘pups’ Oliver and Angus miss her dearly. She touched so many lives in her 69 years on this earth, and she would want us all to love as deeply as she did every day of our lives. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Oct. 13 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Grove Street, Clinton. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Clinton.
