Josephine Rose Santarsiere, age 95, of Westbrook, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 28 at Connecticut Hospice. She was the beloved wife of the late James Santarsiere, who passed away in 2010.

Mrs. Santarsiere was born in Ansonia on March 19, 1923, daughter of the late Remo and Antoinette D’Antuono. She leaves behind her loving daughter Judy Chappell and her husband Bruce of Westbrook; cherished grandchildren Marc Higgins and his wife Marge of Bristol, Kristine Higgins of Prospect, and Marci Martindale and her husband Lew of Westbrook; great-grandchildren James, Marc, Caila, Kaylee, Alisabeth, Jarid, and Summer; and great-great-granddaughter Addison. Josephine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who always put others first. Her happiest moments were when she was with her family. She loved to cook and would cook for everyone who walked through her door. She loved those “Yankees” and her glass of wine. She will always be kindly remembered by everyone she met.

Visiting took place on Oct. 2 in the chapel of the Spinellli-Ricciuti/Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home, 62 Beaver St. in Ansonia.
