Harold Fitzgerald Hutchinson, Jr., of Pine Point, Maine, and Venice, Florida, formerly of Guilford, died peacefully Sept. 2 at Evergreen Woods, North Branford, with his family at his bedside. Harold was born in Portland, Maine, on Sept. 14, 1935, son of the late Harold Fitzgerald Hutchinson, Sr., and Muriel Montgomery Hutchinson.

He is survived by his five children, Judy (Paul) Burdick of Old Lyme; Janice (Bruce) Garber of Midland, Georgia; Harold “Jerry” Fitzgerald Hutchinson III of Guilford; Jeff (Julia) Hutchinson of Ivoryton; and Jennifer (Rob) Mandel of Guilford. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, Mackenzie Burdick, Paul Burdick, Garrett Burdick, Gavin Burdick, Caitlin Garber Romano (James), Kerrin Garber DuPree (Jason), Brian Garber, Rachel Hutchinson, Lauren Hutchinson, Sarah Hutchinson, Emily Hutchinson, Caroline Hutchinson, Samuel Hutchinson, Alea Mandel, Maggie Mandel, and Sean Mandel; and one great-granddaughter, Brynn DuPree. He is also survived by his brother John (Barbara) Hutchinson of Granby, CT and was predeceased by his sister; Janice Reinert.

He graduated from the University of Maine in 1957 and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Mr. Hutchinson retired from Abbott Laboratories after 33 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, listening to music, and collecting art and antiques.

Friends were invited to calling hours Sept. 5 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. George Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on Sept. 6. Burial was held privately.
