North Branford

Anita Rose Falcone Shanoff of North Branford returned home to the Lord on Sept. 1 at Connecticut Hospice, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Francis J. Shanoff, Jr., for nearly 72 years. Anita was born in New Haven Sept. 23, 1925, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Giovannina Buonacore Falcone.

She graduated from Commercial High School in June 1943. She was employed by Growers Outlet and was the bookkeeper at Eastern Steel in New Haven before devoting her life to raising her family. More recently she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Anita is survived by her children Francis J. Shanoff III (Donna) of Killingworth; Cynthia J. Kuziel (Michael) of Zephyrhills, Florida; Dennis J. Shanoff (Susan) of Gilsum, New Hampshire; and Jennifer J. Parolise (Joseph Jr.) of Branford. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Margaret Whiteman (Kirk IV) and Diana Blair (Brian), both of Killingworth; Francis J. Shanoff IV (Theresa) of Melville, New York; Joseph Kuziel (Erica) and Michelle Montague (Matthew), both of Tampa, Florida; and Justine, Jolee, John, and Joseph Parolise, all of Branford; and six great-grandchildren, Olivia Whiteman, Evelyn Shanoff, Gabriel, Nathaniel, and Amelia Blair, and Benjamin Kuziel. She is also survived by her sister Louise Arnone and sister-in-law Agatha (Anastasio) Falcone. She was predeceased by her siblings Ralph, Louis, Ernest, Dominic, and Benito Falcone, and Adeline DaSilva and Mary Pagano.

Anita’s family would like to thank the staffs at Connecticut Hospice and Branford Hills Health Care Center for the care given to her during her final days.

Visiting hours were Sept. 6 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. Her funeral left the funeral home Sept. 7 for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary Church.
