North Branford

Irene Maculaitis of 52 Twin Lakes Rd., North Branford, died peacefully with her family at her side on Aug. 29. She was the wife of the late Alexander Maculaitis.

Irene was born in Branford, May 12, 1922, daughter of the late John and Mildred Radovich. She leaves a daughter, Nancy Anderson (Douglas) of Denver, Colorado; and two sons, Wayne Maculaitis (Anita) of Branford and John Maculaitis (Tracey) of North Branford. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Kara Maculaitis, and three grandsons, Wayne Maculaitis, Jr., and Patrick and Christopher Anderson; and two great-grandsons, Greyson and Griffin Maculaitis. Her caregivers Lisa and Shawna McMahon were also very special to her.

Irene was a member of St. Mary Church in Branford. She was a graduate of Larson Junior College and received a degree from Quinnipiac University. Prior to her retirement, she was vice president, co-founder, and co-owner, along with her husband, of Al Mac Motors and Branford Dodge. She was president of Marc Capital Corp., a family real-estate holding business. She was a member of the Pine Orchard Country Club, The New Haveners Club, the New Haven Council of Catholic Women, and Friends of Sacred Heart. Irene was also an avid bridge player.

Visiting hours were Saturday, Sept. 1 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
