George J. Conroy, 49, of East Haven passed away on Aug. 11 in Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. George was born in New Haven on Sept. 8, 1968, son of Elizabeth “Betty” Capone Conroy of East Haven and the late George A. Conroy.

He was the brother of the late Martin “Marty” Conroy; and the best friend of Sabrina Lee and Betzi Torres.

At the time of his death, George worked for Yale University in the Sterling Memorial Library. George was a talented and gifted self-taught artist. He also loved to dance and perform at charity events throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. George and his late brother Marty enjoyed a business partnership at the Branford Art Glass Studio at the Bittersweet Farm in Branford for many years.

His funeral procession left the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, Aug. 16. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment was private. Friends called Aug. 16. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
