Janet L. Aiken passed away peacefully at her home in Clinton on Aug. 7. Janet was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, on Feb. 9, 1951, to the late Joseph Hausner and Evelyn Hausner Zellien.

She was predeceased by her sister Carol Stamp and her daughter Staci L. Lockner. She was the mother of Gayle Forsberg-Brown (Robert) of Haddam, and grandmother of Renee Lockner of Deep River. She also leaves behind her niece Jodi Stamp Turner (Dale) and nephew Geoffrey Stamp (Linda), both of North Carolina.

Janet received her bachelor’s degree in women’s studies from the University of Hartford, graduating magna cum laude. After many years of working in town government, she semi-retired and began working in retail. She was the chairwoman of Clinton First for several years. She loved working with people and had a passion for helping others. She expressed her creativity through her cooking and everyone who ate at her house knew that they were going to get a great meal. Her other passions included traveling and reading. She also loved animals, especially cats.

Friends and family are invited to celebrating her life on Aug. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.
