Branford

Peter J. Sabo of Branford passed away peacefully on Aug. 8. He was the beloved husband of Lois Norkus Sabo. Peter was born on July 8, 1937, son of the late Peter and Mary Chapkovitch Sabo.

Peter was a retired truck driver and proud Teamster 443 member for more than 31 years. He reveled in telling life’s humorous anecdotes, especially while playing cards with friends at Umberto II Club of New Haven. Peter loved the shoreline and was always working on a boat that was “just one oil change away from getting back in the water.” Peter’s unselfish, generous nature will be the everlasting memory of anyone that was blessed to have known him. His honest dependability made him the first call of family and friends in need of guidance or a helping hand.

Besides his wife Lois, he is survived by his children Roberta Sabo of East Haven, Marc Sabo (Kristin Frank) of Trumbull, Beth Anne (James) Cusanelli of East Haven, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Radziunas of Wallingford; and his grandchildren Eric, Christopher, Vivian, Cody, Joshua, and Jacob. Peter is also survived by his cousin Gary Clince of East Haven and niece Linda Sabo Paranto of Delray Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his son Michael Sabo and his brother Creighton “Buddy” Sabo.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Aug. 18 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. Burial will be private. For directions and an online memorial, see www.wsclancy.com.
