Branford

Warren M. Newton, Jr., of Branford, died Aug. 4 at the Hospital of St. Raphael Campus, Yale-New Haven Hospital. Mr. Newton was born in New Haven May 23, 1931, son of the late Warren M. Newton, Sr., and Alice Anderson Newton.

He grew up in East Haven and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was the co-owner of New England Truck Sales, dba Southern Connecticut Freightliner in Branford. He enjoyed antique cars and vacationing in New Hampshire. He was an avid fisherman in the lake regions of New Hampshire.

He is survived by his daughters Charlene Newton (John Barnes) of Stony Creek, Sheryl Newton of Branford, and Tracey Newton (Joseph Bahnsen, Jr.) of Stony Creek; and three grandsons, Michael Newton, and Christopher and Bradley Barlow, all of Branford. He is also survived by his former sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Sullivan (Timothy); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Kaus; his nephew Christopher Kaus; and his former wife Barbara Skotnicki.

Visiting hours were Aug. 9 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. A funeral service was held Aug. 10 in the Stony Creek Congregational Church, followed by burial in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
