Guilford

Arthur Frank Borrelli, 91, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 10 at Apple Rehab of Guilford with his wife, daughter, and compassionate caregivers by his side. He was born and raised in New Haven and resided in Branford for more than 40 years.

Arthur will be forever remembered by his family. He was the husband of Marie Borrelli, father of Mark Silva and Joey Flanagan, and father-in-law of Kevin Flanagan. He was the adoring grandfather “Poppy” to Leah and Ella Flanagan. He was the brother of Dorothy (Joseph) Genite, and the late Diane Dickerson, Lillian Arpino, Mary Daughtry, and Edward, George, Peter, Leonard J., and Michael Borrelli. He was the special cousin of James Sandillo and his dear friend, Irene Melotto.

Art was born in New Haven on March 13, 1927, a son of the late Vincenzo and Maria Santillo Borrelli. He attended Boardman Trade and joined the Army on May 22, 1945. Later, Archie began his career as the owner of the Barbary Coast Café. Archie enjoyed interacting with all his customers who mostly consisted of men from the New Haven Terminal and Dahill Construction. Archie had a huge impact on the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was a small, quiet man who was well respected by everyone. Art was a very giving man with a kind heart. He lived a full life and, in his retirement, enjoyed doing puzzles, exercising, and outdoor work. What Archie enjoyed most was spending time with his daughter and granddaughters, which brought him the greatest joy.

Arthur’s family is grateful and appreciative of the love, support, and care he received over the years from the Orchard House of Branford, Shoreline of Clinton, and Seasons Hospice. A very special thank you to everyone at Apple Rehab of Guilford for the outstanding care, warmth, and compassion that was continuously given to Art. The family would also like to thank Bill Iovanne for the sincere and genuine compassion shown to the family, as well as his guidance and support.

Arthur Borrelli was an incredible man and his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all of those who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours were held July 21 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Pl. A Mass of Christian burial was then celebrated in St. Mary Church, Main Street, Branford. Burial with military honors followed in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Apple Rehab Guilford Patient Recreation Fund, 10 Boston Post Rd., Guilford, CT 06437.
