Old Saybrook

Charles K. (Butch) Stevens, 77, of Old Saybrook, husband of the late Pamela Brooke, passed away unexpectedly on July 6 at his home. Born on Feb. 15, 1941, in Middletown, he was the son of Howard and Anne Stevens of Deep River.

Chuck was a graduate of Valley Regional High School in Deep River, and then served with pride and honor as a paratrooper in the US Army stationed in California. Upon his return with his family to the east, he settled in Old Saybrook and was a member and former president of the painters union Local 1122 before retiring in 2007. Chuck was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and camping. Most of all he loved his boys and dedicated his life to raising them to the best of his ability. He will be greatly missed.

Charles is survived by his two sons, Jack Stevens and his wife Michelle and Max Stevens, all of Old Saybrook; his brother Richard Stevens of California; and a nephew, Michael Misserochi of Clinton. He is also survived by his stepmother Mary K. Stevens and longtime friend and companion Nancy Cole.
