East Haven

Thomas A. Savino, 91, of East Haven, beloved husband of the late Lorraine Rowley Savino, passed away on June 30 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. Tom was born in New Haven on Sept. 11, 1926, son of the late Anthony and Mary DeCapua Savino.

He was the loving father of Paul (Toni) Savino of Northford, Donna Savino, Kathy Raveneau, and Sandra (Don) Langlois, all of Branford, and Karl (Marty) Pieper of Northborough, Massachusetts. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Marie Biondi of New Haven, Anthony (Ginny) Savino of Springfield, Massachusetts, Frank Savino of Hamden, Robert (Donna) Savino of Branford, and the late Joseph Savino.

Prior to his retirement, Tom was the warehouse manager for the former S.N.E.T., and also worked part time for Chieppo Bus Company. He served his country faithfully in the Navy during WWII as a Seabee in the South Pacific.

His funeral procession will leave the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, July 6 at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
