Branford

Anthony M. “Bud” Cudgma of Branford died suddenly June 8 at his home. Anthony was born in New Haven Jan. 21, 1947, son of the late John and Agnes Sinkievich Cudgma. Anthony will be reunited with his parents who left him too soon. Bud is survived by his sisters Joan Yasevac and Ann Devlin, and his brother John (Carol) Cudgma, all of Branford.

As the youngest of four children, Bud could be challenging in his early years. He went through some tough times but evolved into a respected brother, uncle, and friend. He was a proud man, proud of his accomplishments, his family, and the friendships he made, but he was most proud to be a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army’s Fourth Infantry Division. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device and 2 Overseas Bars. He worked for many years at Lenny’s Indian Head Inn.

Uncle Bud is also survived by his nieces and nephews Joe, Nancy, Robin, and Robert Yasevac; John, Steve, Keith, and Kevin Cudgma; and Jodi and Glen Devlin. He is also survived by many great-nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by a niece and nephew, Donna and Brian Devlin, and brother-in-law Frank Yasevac.

Visiting hours were held June 19 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. A funeral service was held June 20 in the funeral home. Burial with military honors followed in St. Agnes Cemetery. For an online memorial, see www.wsclancy.com.
