Esther Bracken of New London, life-long resident of Branford, died June 12. She was the wife of the late James E. Bracken III. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dec. 30, 1936, daughter of the late Pedro Acevedo and Virginia Santiago.

Esther was a director for SARAH, Inc. for many years until retiring. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford, and was very involved in many parish activities.

Esther is survived by her children Dianna (Willis) Beckwith of Old Lyme and Jon Ruch of New Britain; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister Magda (Pasquale) Valenzuela. She was predeceased by her son James E. Bracken IV.

Friends were invited to a Mass of Christian burial June 19 in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. For an online memorial, see www.wsclancy.com.
