Branford

Dorothy Weir of Branford died June 8 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Dorothy was born in New Haven June 26, 1925, daughter of the late Biaggio and Assunta Onofriatti Vessichio.

She worked for MPC Enterprises and Tag-a-Long Handbags in New Haven. She also worked for many years as a senior care provider.

She is survived by her children Russell (Carolyn) Weir of Hawaii and Carol Porrello of Guilford; her grandchildren Lauren (Frank) Esposito of Branford, Michael of California, and Amanda and Kevin of East Haven; her great-grandson Camden John; brother Joseph Vessichio of East Haven; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Phillip, Salvatore, Joseph, Anthony, and John, and her sisters Anna Fusco and Nicoletta Libero. She touched the lives of all who knew her; and by her famous quote “Leave it in the hands of the Lord.”

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial June 14 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Branford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. For directions and an online memorial, see www.wsclancy.com.
