Gloria Bagnano Volpe, 91, of North Haven passed away surrounded by all of her loving children on May 22. Gloria was born Jan. 17, 1927, in New Haven to the late Anthony and Marion Lombardi Bagnano.

She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Fox Volpe, and son Mark Volpe. Gloria is survived by her seven children, Kathleen Volpe (Michael Shaner) of Dover, Massachusetts; Frank Volpe (Elizabeth Funaro, deceased) of Branford; Anthony Volpe (Patti Leone) of Wallingford; Marianne Volpe Merwin (Paul Merwin) of North Haven; Ralph Volpe (Tracy Castiglione) of Cheshire; Maria Ceneri (wife of the late Mark Volpe) of Branford; Michele Volpe LaTorre (Thomas LaTorre) of Madison; and Marlene Volpe Weber (RJ Weber III) of Wallingford. She also leaves eighteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Gloria was a 1945 graduate of Hillhouse High School. She was the first auxiliary policewoman in North Haven and worked as a matron at North Haven High School for more than 20 years. Gloria was an active member of the North Haven Senior Center, the Jolly Timers, and the Annex Club of New Haven, and was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in North Haven for nearly 60 years. Gloria was an avid lover of Bingo and was always dressed with hair and nails done and ready for the next “event.”

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven, on May 26 at 10:00 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial, and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.
