East Haven and Hamden

Wayne Magliulo, 70, of East Haven and Hamden passed away peacefully at home on April 19. He was born Aug. 25, 1947, in New Haven to Nicholas and Flora (Lombardi) Magliulo.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife and companion of 20 years, Elaine (Discepola) Magliulo; children Wayne Magliulo of East Haven, Lisa DeLise (Charles Strickland) of North Haven, Kimberly Liso-Perez of Hamden, Michael Liso (Alicia) of Hamden; six grandchildren, Nicole Amodio (Vinny), Phillip “PJ” Magliulo, Grace DeLise, Ashley Perez, Daniella Liso, and Keira Liso; and great-granddaughter Marina Amodio. Wayne is also survived by his sister-in-law Marge (Lieto) Magliulo of South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Magliulo.

He was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. After many years in the restaurant business, Wayne retired from Bimonte’s Pizza Castle in Cheshire (formerly Hamden). Wayne enjoyed vacationing with his wife and good friends, eating out with family and friends, and trips to the casino. He also loved quality time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchild. His sense of humor, wit, and silliness was well known by all, and he kept his wife laughing constantly, even until the end. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be sorely missed.

We would like to thank the VA Hospital and Wayne’s primary care doctor, Dr. Federman, his oncologist Dr. Chow, and all the nurses, aids, social workers, and other staff from Palliative Care and VA Hospice.

Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian burial on April 25 at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Work Vessels for Vets, PO Box 215, West Mystic, CT 06388, in memory of Wayne Magliulo, USMC veteran.
