Joan Sandra Stone, 79, of North Branford passed away April 12 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a long illness with her family by her side.

Joan was born on October 22, 1938, and leaves her beloved husband of 60 years, Raymond Stone, Sr. She also leaves her son Richard and daughter-in-law Maria; daughter-in-law Cindi; grandchildren Raymond III, Carissa, Tabitha, and Kai; two great-grandchildren; and her brother Richard Terray and wife Ruth. Joan was predeceased by her son Raymond Stone, Jr., and sister Paula McKenna.

She loved to travel and went on numerous cruises and business trips to Las Vegas and Reno with her husband Ray. Joan was a star basketball player in high school, and was inspired for years by her daily phone calls with her dear sister Paula. Joan was an avid PGA golf fan, always rooting for her favorite player Ricky Fowler. Ray and Joan had a second home in Odessa, Florida, to escape the cold and snow of Connecticut.

There will be no calling hours and a graveside service will be held at a future date to be announced.
