Branford

Dennis Keyes, 63, of Branford passed away Feb. 18 at Branford Hospice. He was born March 2, 1954, in New Haven to Joseph and Marguerite (Simons) Keyes.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, MaryClaire Peach-Keyes; son Edward Peach-Keyes of Branford; brothers Daniel Keyes (Janice Natale) of East Haven, Paul Keyes (Elana) of Guilford, Gregory Keyes of East Haven, and Stephen Keyes (Lorraine) of Northford; and sister Margaret “Peggy” D’Amico (Michael Marchetti) of Bridgeport. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Ellen Peach of East Haven and Lauren Maddaloni of California, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Burton Keyes; brother-in-law Edward “Teddie” Peach, Jr.; and in-laws Edward and Lorene (Hanley) Peach.

Dennis was a loving husband and father, and an honorable man. One of his proudest moments was watching his son Edward graduate from Quinnipiac University. He always gave a helpful hand to friends and family whenever needed. His kind and gentle spirit was often evident to those who met him. If you were having a difficult time, his sense of humor would brighten your outlook about life. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all those he came in contact with and will leave a void in their lives.

He was employed at Tradon Inc. of North Haven until his recent illness. He was a member of the Branford Elks and the Branford Gun Club. Earlier in his life he was an East Haven volunteer fire fighter and a member of the Connecticut Governor’s Foot Guard.

We would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Smilow Cancer Center and Hospice of Branford for their expertise, kindness, and empathetic care.

The family will receive friends on Feb. 24 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, in memory of Dennis Keyes. For an online obituary, visit www.Clancy-PalumboFuneralHome.com.
