North Haven

John A. Giordano, 72, of North Haven passed away peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus on Feb. 16 with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of 47 years to Joyce Hodgkin Giordano. John was born in New Haven on May 24, 1945, son of the late Edward and Antoinette Sortito Giordano.

John was a graduate of the Eli Whitney Technical School. He was the owner and gunsmith of the former North Haven Gun Company. He later worked as a machinist for many years at Metro North Rail Road in North White Plains, New York. He was a diehard Red Sox fan. John was a member of the Guilford Sportsmen’s Association. He was very good with his hands and could fabricate anything. John enjoyed fishing and hunting; loved cars and motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved unconditionally.

He was the father of Gina Judd (Christopher) and Jennifer Giordano (fiancé Ralph Spaduzzi). He was the grandfather of Nicholas, Luke, and Stella Judd.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to John’s caregiver Kenneth Hoff for his endless care and compassion.

Family and friends were invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven, on Feb. 21 at 10:00 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial, and were also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There were no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd. Ste. 4B, Southington, CT 06489. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., has been entrusted with the arrangements. For an online obituary, visit www.northhavenfuneral.com.
