East Haven

Bruce Evans, 67, of East Haven unexpectedly passed away on Feb. 1. He was born in Milford on Feb. 5, 1950, to the late Gene and Adele Schmidt Evans.

He worked at several area car dealerships in their parts and service department, until finally retiring from Valenti Chevrolet in 2009. He loved his family immensely and was an amazing caregiver to his granddaughters. He was fiercely loyal and always the protector. If he loved you, there was always a place for you at his table. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed spending time with his son at Milford Jai Alai.

He is survived by his former wife Elaine Volpe; his two sons, Bruce Drury and Bruce T. Evans; a daughter, Theresa Evans (Joel Correll); five grandchildren, Jordan Evans, Makayla Griffith, Blake Russell, and Tatum and Harper Correll; a brother, Edward (Carolyn) Evans; three sisters, Patricia Boboc, Dorothy (Donald) Hankins, and Debra (Raymond) Mercier; a sister-in-law, Joanne Evans; as well as countless nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gene Evans; a sister, Diane Drury; and two sisters-in-law, Wendy and Bambi Evans.
