Deep River

Theresa (Russell) MacDonald, 58, of Deep River, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 15. She was smart and sweet with a heart of gold and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and wonderful laughter. She was born in New London on Oct. 10, 1959, growing up in Essex.

Theresa spent many summers at the family cottage in Mumford Cove in Groton, as well as in Essex. She attended Valley Regional High School and graduated in 1977. Her favorite things were reading in the sun, gardening, camping with her family and friends, and decorating her home. She sadly leaves behind David, her husband of 38 years; her daughter Kimberly MacDonald and her husband John Njenga, and granddaughter Mia Njenga, all of Worcester, Massachusetts; and her son David (DJ) MacDonald, Jr., of Deep River.

She is also survived by her twin sister Denise Mislick of Deep River; sisters Adrienne Russell Steele of Greenfield, Massachusetts, and Tracy Squires of Wisconsin; and brothers Frederick (Rick) Russell, Jr., Daniel Russell, and James Wells and his wife Stacey Wells, all of Deep River; as well as many nieces and nephews. Theresa’s parents Regina (Denkiewicz) Russell and Frederick Russell, Sr., surely met her at the Pearly Gates. Theresa will be sorely missed by all her family and friends who loved her.

Visitation was held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, on Feb. 19. A celebration of her life followed at the Swede Club in Deep River. To share a memory or a condolence, please visit www.rwwfh.com.
