East Haven

Margaret “Peg” Flower, 95, of East Haven passed away Feb. 2 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Corning, New York, to Glenn and Mary (Hill) Harris.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred Flower (1987); and friend Katherine Norden. Margaret is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; friends; her extended family in and around East Haven; and her loyal dog walker, Danny Norden, who cared for “Pegatha.”

Margaret was the last survivor of her generation. Family was extremely important to Peg. Her playfulness was infectious; she loved to dance and sit around with family and friends telling stories over a glass of wine. Margaret graduated from Northside High School in Corning, New York, attended Arnot Odgen School of Nursing in 1944, and received her master’s from Columbia University in 1963. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau and charter member of Delta Mu. She was a US Army Corps nurse during WWII, and retired from the VA Hospital after 36 years of service.

A private graveside service with Military Honors will be held at a future date in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven. Funeral services are under the care of Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), East Haven.
