Madison

David P. Zuber was a quiet man whose favorite Lincoln quote was “Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” David lost his battle with vascular dementia on Jan. 9 at Watrous Care Center in Madison. He was 69 years old.

David was a US Army veteran, a Guilford High School and University of New Haven graduate, and a certified public accountant.

He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Viola Wise Zuber. He leaves behind his wife Maybeth; beloved daughter Joya; sister Maureen Bass; sisters-in-law Barbara Skelly and Marie Canning; nieces Judy Anderson (John), Heather Canning, Ashley Canning, and Kathy Bass; and nephews, Daniel Skelly (Kristin), John Bass, and their respective children. He was predeceased by his avid boating brothers-in-law Peter Canning and William Skelly. Hopefully, the trio is sailing above Block Island’s stars.

Services will be held privately.

To celebrate David’s life, please raise a glass, plant a flower, go fishing, or enjoy time on a beach. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Watrous Nursing Care, Madison. Donations in David’s honor may be sent to Watrous Nursing Center Staff Appreciation Fund, 9 Neck Rd., Madison, CT 06443. Arrangements in the care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.
