Clinton

Judith Munson Kinsley of Clinton passed away peacefully on Jan. 12. She was 81 years old.

Judy leaves her beloved family, her daughter Stephanie Kinsley Patterson and her children Chelsea Buell Patterson and Christopher George Patterson; her son Jeffrey M. Kinsley and his wife Carol Kinsley; her daughter Martha K. Kinsley; her sister-in-law Nancy K. Barrett; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband George J. Kinsley, son Peter D. Kinsley, brother David Munson, and her parents Lewis H. and Marjorie T. Munson.

Judy was a one-of-a kind Clinton native. She grew up playing the links with her father at the old country club off Commerce Street and was a distinguished champion golfer along the shoreline. Her father was a charter member of Clinton Country Club and she truly loved a day at the club. She was a sharp and keen competitor with uncanny athletic ability as a fencer at The Gateway School, on the tennis court, or at the helm. She loved sailing the waters of Long Island Sound on the Traumerei and venturing off to Cape Cod and Block Island. She loved flowers, gardening, and design of all kinds. She created gracious yet comfortable homes, and was known as a gracious host, loyal friend, and true blue Clintonian. Judy lived her life on her own terms to the fullest extent possible. She will be remembered always.

A celebration of Judy’s life will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Essex. Those who wish to make memorial gifts in her memory may make a gift to the Arbor Garden Club Scholarship Fund (P.O. Box 478, Clinton, CT 06413); Clinton Sailing Club (P.O. Box 22, Clinton, CT 06413); or to a charity or community organization. Share a fond memory with her family by sending a card to 47 Maplewood Dr., Clinton, CT 06413.
