Thomas Jeffrey Spears, 66, of Northford passed away peacefully into the loving embrace of the Lord, on Jan. 14. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Spears. He was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Spears.

Tom grew up in Milford and Orange. He attended Admiral Farragut Honor Naval Academy, then earned a BS and MBA from UNH. Tom worked for the US Headquarters of Saab/Scania as a national warranty specialist and for Standard Motor Products (Echlin Inc., Dana Corp.) as an electronic catalog coordinator. After retiring, Tom took a permanent substitute job at Guilford High School. Tom was a member of the University Glee Club of New Haven and of Hermann Sohns Connecticut State Grand Lodge, and a Master Mason of Hiram Lodge #1 of New Haven, and a member of the Harugari German American Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister Heather Davidson (Bernard) of Augusta, Georgia, his sister-in-law Beth Bifano (Marc) of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, beloved niece Sarah Thomas (Cathy Armando) of Irving, Texas, special nephew Al Johnson (Cindy), and loving dachshund Freddie. He was predeceased by his Johnson brothers Ernest, Robert, James, and John, and sister Joan Rowatt.

The visiting hours will be Jan. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
