Clinton

John J. Schum, Jr., 91, of Clinton, beloved husband of the late Frances Hoadley Schum, passed away on Jan. 7 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Madison on April 25, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Julia Adametz Schum, Sr.

John was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the VFW Post 9981 in Clinton. He was the owner of John J. Schum Building and Remodeling in Clinton. He was also a captain in the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to fish and hunt. He is survived by his two children, his son James Schum of Clinton, and daughter Carol Stephens and her husband Craig of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Stephanie Long and Heidi Washburn; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Noah, and Stone. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Childs.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Swan Funeral Home at 80 E. Main St. in Clinton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Killingworth.
