Westbrook

Lee Gene Correll, 85, of Westbrook, passed away on Jan. 8. He was born on Nov. 6, 1932, in Martinsville, Virginia, the son of Lee Pinkney Correll and Kate Elizabeth Davis Correll.

In 1941, during World War II, his family moved to Mystic, and a memorable moment as a child was seeing the Charles W. Morgan sailing up the Mystic River. Lee introduced himself to the captain, and as an adult ended up marrying the captain's daughter, Sally Holbrook. She predeceased him on Nov. 16, 2012.

Lee was a graduate of The Morgan School in Clinton, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Following his military service, he lived in the shoreline area, and worked as a milkman, owned Westbrook Waste, and worked at John J. Doerrer Septic in Westbrook.

Lee is survived by his son Davis L. Correll of Clinton; grandson Samuel D. Correll; and his sister Laverne Correll Atkinson of Clinton.
