Westbrook

Lawrence "Lenny" O. Moroni, 64, of Westbrook, beloved husband of Cheryl Aiudi Cook, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 25. Born on Aug. 4, 1953, in New Britain, he was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Helen Kobus Moroni.

After watching his father build a business delivering coal and ice in New Britain, Lenny went on to build a business of his own, simply by truly caring about his customers. No matter what time of night, how far away, or when they could afford to pay him, when they needed him to keep their homes and families warm, he was there.

If you measure a man by the size of his heart, Lenny was the size of the oceans, tides, and winds he loved to navigate. From out-dancing a room full of wedding-goers half his age, to fishing in the Caribbean with his “fishing partner” Cheryl, to hundreds of 15 to 20 hour, 200 miles in one day, offshore fishing trips, Lenny was a dynamic example of how to live life to the fullest.

Besides his wife Cheryl, Lenny is survived by his son Matthew Moroni and his wife Erin; grandson Mack Moroni; and step-son James Cook, all of Westbrook. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Fahey of New Britain; nephew Shane Blier and his wife Stephanie of Westbrook; and mother-in-law Doris Aiudi of New Britain.

Family and friends may call on Dec. 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Lenny’s name may be made to Take a Vet Fishing, c/o First Congregational Church of Branford, 1009 Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
