East Haven

Anthony “Yorkie” Duro, 94, of East Haven passed away Dec. 5. He was born Jan. 22, 1923, in New Haven to John and Regina (Pietrus) Duro.

Anthony is survived by his loving son Joseph Duro (companion Deena Panasci) of East Haven, along with a grandson, Joseph Duro (Julie), and one great-grandson, Cameron Duro. He is also survived by two sisters, Marie Hachett and Helen Shields. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie (Santagata) Duro (2013), son John Duro, stepson Donald Grigley, sisters Rose Romanik, Josephine Levis, and Nellie Herpok, and a brother, Joseph Dural.

Yorkie was an avid New York Yankee fan who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a US Army veteran and retired employee of 30 years at AVCO Lycoming. A special thank you to Cheryl Duro and Theresa for their kind and compassionate care of Anthony at Branford Hills.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 11 at the Clancy-Palumbo (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. The funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Dec. 11 at 10:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
