East Haven

Edith Marotti, 95, of East Haven passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on Nov. 13 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Marotti and the daughter of the late Frank and Vincenza Esposito Diglio.

Edith was the loving mother of Louis A. (Rita) Marotti, Carol Marotti, and Anthony (Debbie) Marotti, all of East Haven. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Dr. Louis Marotti, Neisha Scinto, Joseph Marotti, Matthew Marotti, Jennie Gentile, and Lisa Dennis. She also had five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Bucci of East Haven and was predeceased by brothers Dominic Diglio and James Diglio, and sister Connie Sacco.

Before raising her family, she worked as a seamstress at the Strauss Adler Company in New Haven. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul’s church and a member of the alter guild for many years. Her greatest pleasure was taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking and being with family during the holidays.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Nov. 16 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven. There were no calling hours. The East Haven Memorial Longobardi–Brennan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to VNA Community Heathcare of Guilford, 753 Boston Post Rd., Guilford, CT 06437, or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
