North Haven

Emelia Bonesse Leonetti, 93, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Nov. 14 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Fortunato Leonetti and was born in Melissa, Italy, on Jan. 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Francesco and Palma Bonesse.

She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Church. Emelia looked forward to Sundays, going to mass and then cooking for her family whom she loved unconditionally.

She was the beloved mother of Louis (Susan) Leonetti, Anthony (Lina) Leonetti, Frances (Aniello) Tagliamonte, Theresa (David) Rascati, Joseph Leonetti, Louisa Degaetano, Peter (Karen) Leonetti, and Palma (Neil) Carangelo. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, two sisters, and three brothers. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Joseph Degaetano, brothers Nicola and Giacomo Bonesse, and sister Vittora Drago.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
