Guilford

Joyce B. Talman, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away Oct. 28 at the age of 85. Joyce was born in 1931 in Belvidere, Illinois, daughter of the late Carl Johnson and Evelyn Johnson. She was preceded by her husband Marvin Talman, and her brother Roger Johnson. She raised her family in Baldwin, New York, prior to moving to Madison.

She was the beloved mother of Leslie Talman of West Haven, Cheryl (Kemp) Talman and her husband Philip of Pomfret, and Larry Talman and his wife Joan (Vizvary) Talman of Guilford. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Philip Kemp of Pomfret, and Ryan and Brandon Talman of Guilford.

She worked at the VA Hospital as a secretary in West Haven and retired in 2001. She loved spending time with family and friends, doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, reading, and going to the movies. She always enjoyed a “good” game of Scrabble after Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with family. She belonged to the Encore Club and enjoyed spending outings with the group, who were among her closest friends.
