North Haven

Jacqueline A. Marchese Dower, 89, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Robert MacAllister Dower. Jacqueline was born in Flushing, New York, on Oct. 10, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Marchese and Gladys Charboneau Marchese Levebre.

She worked for Colony Lanes of Wallingford for many years and later for Sunny Side Up Early Care Learning Center of North Haven. Jacqueline was an active parishioner of St. Barnabas Church, having been a member of its Ladies Guild and Women’s Club. Her enjoyment was crafts and she was very talented with needlepoint and knitting. Jacqueline enjoyed playing board games and cards, especially pinochle. She was a great fan of Shirley Temple having watched all her movies over and over and not because they shared the same birthday. Jacqueline had a true love of animals and was a great animal activist.

She was the mother of Donna Dower Halten (Joseph DeRosa) and Robert Dower (Nanci). She was the grandmother of Jacqueline Halten Ford (John), Keith Dower (Chrissy), Jaime Manacchio (Ralph), Kimberly Dower, Jodi Iamunno (Joseph), Kortney Dower, and Jenna Marie Dower. She was the great–grandmother of Alexandra and Rebecca Ford, Kayla Dower, Aiden, Ashton, and Ava Manacchio, Joseph, Jace, and Jea Iamunno, and Reagan and Ryan Dower. She was predeceased by her sister Joan Devine.

Family and friends were invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Nov. 9 in St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven. There were no visiting hours. Entombment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Halfway Home Rescue, 15 Clark Rd., Woodbridge, CT 06525, Att: Stephanie Maselli.
