East Haven

Anne E. Saddig of East Haven died peacefully surrounded by her family on Oct. 10 at her home. She was the wife of the late George A. Saddig. Anne was born in North Guilford on Dec. 21, 1927, daughter of the late William and Marie Gerken Butler.

From 1960 to 1965 she was the proprietor of Butler’s Rest-a-While elder care. She enjoyed her vacations to Lake George, New York, was an avid reader, and enjoyed taking walks and gardening. She especially loved taking day trips with her grandchildren.

She was a wonderful mother to Sharon (Mark) Bailey of Mapleville, Rhode Island, Charles (Gayle) Saddig of Port Charlotte, Florida, Marie Saddig of East Haven, Jane Stankoski of Pascoag, Rhode Island, and George Saddig of Naugatuck; and devoted grandmother to Tracy-Ann (Mark) Sheppard, Joshua, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Emily Saddig, Jakob Stankoski, Mark Bailey, Jr., Jennifer (Peter) Lemoine, and Wendy Zazzaro. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Michael Zazzaro and Renee and Kaelyn Lemoine. She was predeceased by her grandson Charles W. Saddig, Jr., and her brothers and sisters Mary Carey, Frank Butler, Jane Butler, Margaret Owens, Thomas Robert Butler, and William Butler.

Her family would like to thank her home health aides Sylvia Gallucci “Sophie” and Elvera White for their loving care. They would also like to thank the staff at YNHH, Lynn Triebel, RN, Thao Nguyen, APRN, and Cynthia Gneco, MD; the staff from Connecticut Hospice; Maria Tomasetti from the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern Connecticut Chapter; and Anne Krott for the South Central Connecticut Agency on Aging for all of their support.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 16 at St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern Connecticut Chapter, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N.
