Madison and Lake Suzy, Florida

Deanna Becker, 74, of Madison and Lake Suzy, Florida, passed away on Nov. 1. She was born in Westbrook, Maine, on Sept. 27, 1943, and graduated from Westbrook High School.

She and husband Vin Becker settled in Madison after living and working in several locations, including Atoka, Oklahoma, Fremont, California, and Garden Grove, California. They enjoyed spending winters in Lake Suzy, Florida, with their many friends and family visitors.

Deanna worked at Southern New England Telephone in New Haven before opening her own real estate appraisal business in Madison.

She was actively involved in all the communities she lived in, particularly as a volunteer at the Friends of Hammonasset Beach Nature Center, where she worked tirelessly during the annual plant sale fund raiser. She had a passion for the beach and ocean that started when she was a young girl spending summers at Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, Maine. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and always made friends wherever she went. Everybody enjoyed spending time with Deanna; her warm personality always made everyone’s day brighter, even as she was beating them at bridge, bocci, mahjong, or the many other games she enjoyed playing.

She is survived by her husband Vin Becker of Madison; mother Barbara Libby of Westbrook, Maine; children Kelly Ross of Humbolt, California, Chris Ross of Saco, Maine, Ross Becker of Providence, Rhode Island, and Craig Becker of Madison. She is also survived by sisters Betsy Herman of Rangeley, Maine, and Dawn Lesvesque of Westbrook, Maine; and grandchildren Brittany Ross of Milford, Massachusetts, Cameron and Nathan Becker of Madison, Haley Ellis of Auburn, Maine, and Adam Robert of Lisbon, Maine.

A celebration of Deanna’s life will be held at Hammonasset Beach State Park, West Beach Pavilion, on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Friends of Hammonasset, P.O. Box 4146, Madison, CT 06443.
