Ivoryton

Edward James McLaughlin, 83, of Ivoryton died at Connecticut Hospice on Oct. 28 after a brave battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose A. McLaughlin, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on Sept. 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Josephine and Charles McLaughlin and had been a resident of Ivoryton since 2006 and Woodstock, New York, previous to that.

He was employed with Philips Electronics for more than 35 years, retiring in 1994 as operations manager. Ed was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Westbrook. He enjoyed woodworking, electronics, and his family.

He is survived by his children Laura Maynard and her husband David, their children David Maynard and his wife Stephanie and their children David and Jacqueline of Deep River, and Kristen Maynard of Baltimore, Maryland; Linda Higgins and her husband Kevin of Westbrook, and their two children Justine and Kyle Higgins; and Rose McLaughlin of Ivoryton and her daughters Laura D’Amico of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Kathryn D’Amico of Middletown. He is also survived by a brother, Charles McLaughlin, and his wife Dorothea, and their three daughters, Megan, Shannon, and Kelli of Long Island, New York; and his beloved dog, Georgia.
