Dorothy Elizabeth Waker Christensen, 89, formerly of Old Saybrook, died on July 6, of natural causes in Newport Beach, California. She was the widow of Alfred Christensen, Jr., and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Christensen III and Lani Christensen; two grandsons, Jack and Sam Christensen; her sister, Emilie Macgregor; her sister-in-law, Barbara Waker; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Flushing, New York, on July 13, 1927, the daughter of late Hermann and Dorothy (Scriven) Waker.

She was a long-time resident of Old Saybrook and a proud member of the Deep River Congregational Church. She worked for many years as an office manager at W.T. Grant and Caldor’s and the Borough of Fenwick where she was a fixture as the golf course and borough manager and where she retired in 1992.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Deep River Congregational Church. Burial will be private.
