Deep River

Kenneth A Wood, Jr., 92, of Deep River passed away on Sept. 27, surrounded by friends and family. Ken was born in Buffalo, New York.

He attended Salisbury School, and enlisted in the Army for WWII. He attended Yale University, where he sang with the Yale Glee Club and the Wiffenpoofs. Ken spent time as an advertising executive in New York. He also owned and operated WBRY in Waterbury, where he married Mary Lucia Leighton and settled to raise his children. He continued to share his love of music with others through church choirs and local singing groups.

He is survived by his three children, Margaret Wood, Bruce Bayne, and Kenneth Wood III; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. in Saint Ann’s Episcopal Church. A burial service will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s honor can be made to St Ann’s Episcopal Church or the Chapel on Squirrel Island, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
