East Haven

Maria Caruso Perrelli, 100, of East Haven, died on Oct. 8 at Lauriel Woods/Apple Rehabilitation of East Haven. She is the wife of the late John Perrelli.

Maria was born in Castel Morrone, Italy on Jan. 12, 1917 to the late Vincent and Angela Parisi Capuano. Out of the nine children in her family, she was the only one to come to America to begin a new life, leaving everyone back in Italy. She is survived by a son Donald J. (Jennie) Caruso of North Haven and a daughter-in-law, Janice Perrelli of New Haven. She was predeceased by all her siblings and a step-son John A. Perrelli.

Maria’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, doctors, and entire staff at Laurel Woods/Apple Rehab, especially Judy and Amanda for the wonderful care that they provided during her stay there.

A funeral Mass was held Oct. 11 at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Church, formerly known as St. Vincent dePaul, Taylor Avenue, East Haven. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
