Branford

Dr. Kathleen R. Degen of Branford died Oct. 4 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Kathleen was born in Astoria, Queens, New York, Nov. 2, 1945, daughter of the late William and Kathleen McKeon Degen.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph University in New York and graduated from medical school in Bologna, Italy. She was a psychiatrist, working for Middlesex Memorial Hospital until retiring. She co-authored the book Return From Madness. Kathleen loved working in her garden and kayaking.

She was the mother of Rose Degen (Anthony Trace) of Branford and Kurt Degen of New Haven; and the sister of Charlotte, Blake, William, and Daniel Degen.

A memorial service preceded by a visiting hour was held Oct. 12 at the First Congregational Church of Branford, with the Rev. Skip Ferry presiding. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford, was in charge of arrangements. For an online memorial see www.wsclancy.com.
