Branford

Maria Eulalia Lespier of Branford died Oct. 6 at her home. She was the wife of the late Carlos M. Lespier. Mrs. Lespier was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Francisco Rodriguez and Concepcion Bermudez.

She was an avid reader, artist, seamstress, and she enjoyed hand-coloring black-and-white photos. She was a master decorator but will be remembered most for her hospitality and her excellent food! She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a spiritual guide for her family.

She is survived by her children, Carmen Rampolla (Barry Wulkan) of Boynton Beach, Florida, Esther (Leslie) Thomas of Fruitland Park, Florida, Charlotte Lespier (Larry Hebel) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Frances (Sam) Berryhill of New York, New York, Sonia Lespier of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Helen Lespier (Jeff Kaufman) of Branford; her niece Josefina Giannoni Kwiecinski of Waukegan, Illinois, who was like a daughter to her; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Carlos M. Lespier, Jr., and her brothers Juan Antonio Rodriguez and Pancho Rodriguez.

Her funeral left the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford, Oct. 11 for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Therese Church, Branford. Burial followed in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends called Oct. 10. For an online memorial visit www.wsclancy.com.
