Eva P. Morano, age 87, passed away peacefully Sept. 28 at Middlesex Hospital with her family by her side. Ms. Morano was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Bronx, New York, to Louis and Gaetana Morano.

Eva, her two sisters Rose and Yolanda, and her parents lived on Burke Avenue in the Bronx before moving to Pelham, New York, in 1942. After attending Pelham Memorial High School, Eva continued her education, receiving her college degree from College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. She worked for several years in New York City for Nestle Corporation and following that, she began her teaching career in New Rochelle, New York, which she continued until her retirement, teaching for more than 35 years. She loved working with children. She resided in Pelham, New York, for many years until moving more recently to Connecticut.

Eva is survived by her sister Yolanda Ruhl and her six nieces and nephews and their spouses, Thomas and Isabelle DiMarco of Fairfield (formerly of Pelham, New York); Denise and Jim Mason of Westbrook; Richard and Jenny DiMarco of Weston; Robert and Debbie DiMarco of Madison; Sue and Tim Moore of Fairfield; and Leo Ruhl of Norwalk. She is also survived by her 13 grand-nieces and -nephews, and six great-grand-nieces and -nephews, whom she treasured with all her heart. Her interests included reading, knitting and crocheting, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Calling hours are at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, 203-245-2488, on Oct. 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, on Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
